My work explores the emotional experiences of the freedom fighters of Bangladesh’s 1971 Liberation War, reflecting on their sacrifices, sense of fulfillment, disillusionment, and the lasting significance of their contributions in the years following independence.
Using X-ray imagery as a visual metaphor for revealing what lies beneath the surface, I seek to portray the invisible emotional wounds carried by these individuals. The work examines the complex relationship between pride in serving one’s country and the pain of unfulfilled expectations, highlighting the contrast between the ideals that inspired their sacrifices and the realities that followed.
Ultimately, my work is nothing more than a reflection of the enduring legacy of the Liberation War and raises a profound question: To what extent did the freedom they fought for fulfill the hopes and aspirations that motivated their sacrifices?
